Katrina and I met for coffee in Downtown Santa Rosa in the fall of last year and she was so relaxed despite her crazy schedule, living on the opposite coast from Craig, and planning a wedding in Gold Country while living in the North Bay.  Her mother, who lives in Placerville, was helping a great deal with the wedding, and with Georgia Barron of Newcastle Wedding Gardens at the helm, Katrina felt at peace knowing no detail would be missed.

I will never forget our pre-wedding FaceTime chat with them where I stood tentatively as I was nervous at the reaction I would get with my 32-week baby bump that they had not seen, as our last meeting was before my pregnancy and Katrina had since relocated to the East Coast to be with Craig.  We all laughed as Craig announced he was an OBGYN, as were a large number of their guests, and he explained that I would be well taken care of.

They were married on a picture perfect day at Newcastle Wedding Gardens, a beautiful 12-acre private estate nestled in the Sierra Nevada Foothills just outside of Sacramento.  Katrina donned a beautiful vintage-inspired lace gown with gorgeous lace and beaded back detail, and looked exquisite as she met Craig under the Great-Great Grandfather Heritage Oak where they exchanged vows.  Their ceremony and vows were particularly touching with Craig’s sister presiding over them.  They were pronounced husband and wife and were whisked away to their reception in the Historic Red Horse Barn.  Their reception was one of the most memorable for Jay and I, as the couple (and quite a few of their guests) polka danced!   We had not seen that done at a wedding and I would be lying if I didn’t say that I looked at the DJ with one eye wondering what he was playing as I had never heard polka music!  I truly hope we photograph another wedding with such a fun, genuine, outgoing group of people (that dance the polka!) and invite us to dance it with them!

Congratulations Dr. & Dr.!  We’re thrilled for you both and wish you every blessing as a happily married couple.  xo, Jackie + Jay

What fun we had photographing these (three!)  Justine, Alex and their pup Trixie are really a blast and all three of them have such magnetic personalities.  We met at Fishers Wharf where they enjoyed their favorite Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream and Trixie stole the show with onlookers commenting on how cute and well behaved she was.  Justine donned a super cute dress, nude heels, and statement necklace, but it’s her infectious laugh, big smile and fun-loving connection between her and Alex, that light up the camera.

We headed to the Presidio for more natural, wooded shots of the two them (with Trixie waiting patiently beside me.)  The evening approached as we finished up at Chrissy Field, and boy did God provide a breathtaking sunset over the Golden Gate Bridge!  This is one of the things we love about San Francisco – where else can you photograph bustling city, stunning natural beauty of the woods, and beach with one of the 7 Modern Wonders of the World in the background – all in one afternoon?  We never tire of photographing Engagements and Weddings in San Francisco.

Stay tuned for a blog post of their beautiful 4th of July Wedding at V. Sattui Winery coming soon.
